I'm Jessica. I live in West Lancashire with Nathan and our two children, who are 3 and 1. I'm a nurse, and when I'm not at work I'm usually outside with the kids.

What I do on TrailFox

Nathan builds the app, and I'm the one testing it. I try the activities with the kids, tell him which ones worked and which fell flat, and suggest the improvements and features I'd want as a parent standing in a park with a toddler.

How I like my outdoors

Flat, ideally. I'm not a hill person. Mud I don't mind at all, which is lucky, because our eldest will jump in any puddle going.

What I love is being out there with the kids and teaching them about nature: what that bird is, or where the beetle is off to. And while they're small enough to believe in it, I like to add a bit of magic. A wood is more fun when somebody small might live in it.

What I'm not

I'm a nurse, but TrailFox isn't medical advice, and I don't review the posts as a clinician. I'm not a teacher or a forest school leader either. I'm a parent sharing what works for our family outside.

How my posts are written

Nathan and I aren't writers, so we use AI to help us write and structure the posts. We pick the topics, try every activity with our own two, and edit each post ourselves before it goes live. There's more on that on our About page.
